Introduction
============
Thank you for your interest in the A1 Callback Verifier.
The A1 Callback Verifier (hereafter referred to simply as "A1")
has many important and easy to use features, including AUTOMATIC
configuration file creation, support for area code exclusions,
telephone prefix requirements, caller messages, security level
upgrades, and more!
IMPORTANT!!
===========
A1 CALLBACK VERIFIER comes with a trial period that will
expire on June 14, 1996. After that, you must call
Hemet Nights BBS
(909)-927-8146
to download the key file for continued operation. Upon registering,
you will receive a customized A1 CALLBACK VERIFIER program and key
file for unlimited use.
INSTALLATION
============
The A1 wcx code file is called A1CB510.WCX. You may wish to
set it up as a menu item for your new callers to select, or you
may have it run as part of your logon sequence for new callers.
The choice is up to you.
You, as sysop, should run A1 first. That is because A1
will AUTOMATICALLY take you into the A1CBCFG.WCX program, to set
up your configuration file. Simply answer a few questions, and
A1 does the rest!
If at a later time you need to alter your configuration
file, you may either delete the A1CBCFG.CFG file (it will reside
in the wc:\data\ subdirectory), in which case A1 will take you
there automatically as it did initially, or you may run the
A1CBCFG.WCX program. Either way will work. However, if you decide
to delete the file and run it through A1, be SURE no one else
runs A1 before you do.
The following files should be placed in the following directories:
FILE DIRECTORY (USUAL SETUP DIRECTORY)
==== ========= =======================
A1CB5.WCX WC:\CODE\ \WC5
A1CBCFG.WCX WC:\CODE\ \WC5
POSTCALL.WCX** WC:\CODE\ \WC5
A1CB_1.BBS WC:\DISP\ \WC5\DISP
A1CB_2.BBS WC:\DISP\ \WC5\DISP
A1CBCFG1.BBS WC:\DISP\ \WC5\DISP
A1CB.MSG WC:\DATA\ \WC5\DATA
A1CBKEY.KEY WC:\DATA\ \WC5\DATA
** NOTE - A1 REQUIRES the POSTCALL.WCX file to operate!
========
CONFIGURATION FILE
==================
When you set up the configuration file, either by running
A1 first, or running A1CBCFG.WCX you may specify the following:
* What area code your BBS is in.
* Will you allow callbacks outside your area code?
* If so, you are allowed to set up a list of area codes that
may NOT be called. 900 and 976 are automatically included.
This is very simply done from within the setup program!
* You may set up a list of telephone prefixes that are the only
ones A1 will call (usually within your own area code, but you
may choose any you like). This is done from within the setup
program, too!
* If callers are outside the "accepted" area code(s) / prefixes,
you may specify the number of days for their trial membership,
if any.
* You may choose to have A1 hang-up or stay on line upon callback
success.
* If you choose to remain on-line, you may limit the amount of
time the user may remain online.
* You can have A1 send the caller a verification message, either
while they're online, or after they've hung up.
* You may choose to set up different security accesses depending
on caller's age.
* You enter the security string the verified user will have (if
you did not peform the above age/access setup).
As you can see, A1 Callback Verifier is simple, yet flex-
ible enough for your needs! In addition, the Setup process is
extremely simple and takes only a few minutes.
OPERATION OF THE A1 CALLBACK VERIFIER
=====================================
A1 begins by asking for the caller's password, then ver-
ifying it. After hanging up, A1 will try to call the user back
at the requested phone number. If not connected within 60 sec-
onds, A1 will make two more attempts. Upon re-connecting, the
caller is asked for his password again. If successful, the caller
will be given the status you specified in the configuration file
and either hang-up, or allow the caller to remain online.
If a caller attempts to enter a phone number from an area code
that you don't allow, a message is posted to the sysop. Also,
if a caller attempts to enter another user's phone number, a
message is also posted to the sysop with the caller's name AND
the name of the user whose phone number they entered. This will
give you the opportunity to check on both users, if you desire.
